Put the Bridge in the middle of the saucer not on the edge! Clevell wants a more protected bridge than most ships have. This comes in handy during an attack on the way out of the galaxy.

Excess of escape pods and shuttles.
Excess or torpedoes and phasers.
Secondary shields necessary for the planetary approach, comes in handy with empire between Earth and the edge.
Personal force fields as part of standard equipment, integrated into combadges or belts, extra emergency emitters in all quarters, and some hall locations.
For the several year journey, they'll want comfort, relaxation, and entertainment. Most of the time is expected to be in the middle of nowhere, with little to do. Upper deck lounges and rec room, gym, library with physical books as well as ebooks.
